The operators of the ELODIE burial machine (Trenchformer) needed a robust and reliable umbilical cable capable of withstanding extreme underwater conditions. The machine, designed to bury cables in the seabed up to 2000 meters deep, required a solution that could adapt to various underwater environments and ensure continuous operation without failure.
Our Solution
Lapp Muller designed and manufactured a specialized umbilical cable for the ELODIE burial machine. This custom solution included:
- High Tensile Strength: Integrated synthetic fiber braid to withstand the mechanical stresses and movements of the ROV.
- Superior Watertightness: Use of the most suitable materials and resin coatings to ensure complete watertightness.
- Electrical and Data Transmission: Capable of efficiently conveying electrical power and enabling bidirectional data transmission for vehicle control and real-time information transfer.
The outcome
The custom umbilical cable enabled the ELODIE burial machine to operate effectively at depths of up to 2000 meters. Controlled from a surface vessel, the machine successfully adapted to various underwater conditions and landscapes.
