Inspection cables
Push Cables or Smart Rods
These are composed of copper conductors and a central rigid element that allows the cable to be guided through pipeline conduits.
Pulled Cables
These consist of electrical conductors, coaxial cables, and Kevlar rods for load bearing. The cable provides the connection between the inspection robot and the central control station on the surface.
If a minor defect is located, robots can repair it from the inside without incurring the costs of excavation. Therefore, the cable used must be resistant to water, dirt, chemical attacks, abrasion, and must be capable of withstanding tension.
