Inspection cables

inspection

Two types of cables:

Push or intelligent rod: These are made with copper cores and a rigid central element making it possible to guide the cable through the pipelines.

Pulled cables: These are made of electrical conductors, coaxial cables and Kevlar rods to take the load. The cable provides the link between the inspection robot (“pig”) and the surface control station.

If a minor defect is detected, the robots can repair the internal fault and thus avoid the cost of excavation work. The cables must therefore be able to withstand water, dirt and chemicals, as well as withstand abrasion and the pulling forces.
